The weed in the brook had partly been cleared by the community service people, but there was plenty left to be removed. The brook always looks better when it isn't choked up with weed, and, of course, unless it's removed it makes holding the duck race impossible unless there is a high water level. The recent hot spell looks set to continue and who knows how much water there will be come the carnival.
The job was made a lot easier by Alan Simpson kindly lending us a skid-steer loader and we thank him for that. A very brave offer given Rug has zero experience of operating one and he coped very well - but secretly it was Dylan operating the controls......
